The Ultimate Wellness Getaway
With Portugal so well serviced by Irish airlines, and many Irish people owning holiday homes there, the country is almost a natural extension of Ireland so we feel reasonably justified in giving a mention on our very Irish website to the Longevity Wellness Resort in Monchique on the Algarve.
There's a lot that's unique about this place, and it's just jumped to the top of my list of places I want to visit. Pitching itself as the first integrated 5 star wellness resort in the Algarve and nestled in the green hills of Monchique with breathtaking views of the hills and the Algarve coast, this is a mountain and nature retreat but only 15 minutes from two main cities in the Algarve (Portimão and Silves).
It claims to be the first medical spa in Portugal and is engaged in an exclusive partnership with La Clinique de Paris and Dr. Claude Chauchard, a world leading expert in Preventive Medicine and Ageing Management. The resort has three separate areas of focus - Wellness and Relaxation, Beauty and Rejuvenation and Health and Longevity. There is a wide range of programmes from Slimming and Detox to Beauty and Health Optimization but you could quite easily just sit and admire the views.
Accommodation is in spacious, elegant and fully fitted suites (one-bedroom apartments) as opposed to hotel bedrooms and every effort has been made to ensure this resort 'fits' the natural setting and is respectful of the imperative to be as eco friendly as possible.

Fresh from the foothills of the Atlas Mountains
We know we're Spa Ireland but we also like to look at the world beyond our little island, especially when that world is Morocco, a country we spent weeks exploring many moons ago (12 hour jeep ride across the desert in 40 degree heat anyone?
Brought to you from the foothills of the stunning Atlas mountains, love+art is a new organic beauty range, that harnesses the all important mantra of environmental awareness and utilises sustainable ingredients, harvested from a very special garden in the Ourika Valley.
The nourishing, delicately scented products are made from plants and flowers carefully yielded in tune with nature, that support, rather than alter, the local eco-structure. The Garden itself - Le Jardin Bio-aromatic de l’Ourika
- is situated in the Ourika Valley, 35 kilometres south-east of Marrakech, 840m above sea level in a part of the world that is exceptionally beautiful and bio-diverse. It's home to over 45 species of medicinal and aromatic plants and is run and managed by local women, giving them the opportunity to contribute towards the economy of the region where traditionally they have not been involved in their own economic well-being. All ingredients sourced from the garden are wild-crafted and organically cultivated, grown with love, integrity and respect for the natural environment. Hence the love+art (great name, and we also like the simple packaging).

NEW - at the Radisson Blu Limerick
One of our more popular spas, the 4 star Radisson Blu Hotel and Spa in Limerick, has just launched their new dedicated Spa Guestrooms.
So, what to expect with this new concept? Dedicated Spa Guestrooms will include deluxe Elemis beauty products, fluffy bathrobe and slippers, mineral water and a glossy magazine. The upgrades are offered on all luxury Spa breaks and are just the kind of pleasures designed to turn your hotel stay into something special.
“In this highly competitive market, we have had to come up with new ways of enticing our Spa guests to stay with us” said Tom Shanahan, Director of Sales and Marketing. “We have decided to offer our guests on spa packages an added incentive to stay, with these complimentary upgrades.
And the key word here is 'complimentary', as these extras are all included free for guests staying on a spa package. Nice to see added value rather than cut throat price reductions being used to incentivise clients to stay, we're sure this will be a great success.
